# Agent skill

The Learnt skill teaches an AI coding agent how to build and run almost everything in your workspace through the [Learnt API](https://learnt.tech/docs/api). Once it's installed you can say "put this folder of notes on Learnt as my course, brand it in our colors and invite these five people", and the agent knows the steps, the rules and how to recover from an error.

It follows the open Agent Skills format (a folder with a `SKILL.md` file), and it's tested in Claude Code. Other tools that support Agent Skills and can run commands use the same folder, but Learnt hasn't tested them.

## What's in it

- `SKILL.md`: what Learnt is, the order to build a workspace in, and the rules the agent follows. For example, it shows you the list before sending any invitations, and never deletes anything without asking.
- `learnt_api.py`: a small helper that uses only Python's standard library. It reads your key from the environment, talks only to learnt.tech, and can import a folder of markdown files as modules or upload a picture.
- `reference.md`: every API endpoint, generated from the API itself.

## Install in Claude Code

macOS or Linux:

```
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && curl -sL https://learnt.tech/docs/skill/learnt-workspace.zip -o /tmp/learnt.zip && unzip -o /tmp/learnt.zip -d ~/.claude/skills
```

Windows PowerShell:

```
Invoke-WebRequest https://learnt.tech/docs/skill/learnt-workspace.zip -OutFile $env:TEMP\learnt.zip; Expand-Archive $env:TEMP\learnt.zip -DestinationPath $HOME\.claude\skills -Force
```

This creates a `learnt-workspace` folder in your skills folder, and replaces an older copy of it if you have one. Start a new Claude Code session and it's available. For another tool, unzip the same folder into that tool's skills folder.

## Give it a key

1. In the Course Editor, open **Developer access** and create a key. Choose **Only read** if the agent should only report on progress.
2. Set it in your environment rather than pasting it into the chat:
   - macOS or Linux: `export LEARNT_API_KEY=lt_live_…`
   - Windows PowerShell: `$env:LEARNT_API_KEY = "lt_live_…"`

You can revoke the key in Developer access at any time. It stops working on its next request.

## Things to try

- "Turn the markdown files in ./course into my Learnt course, in order, and show me the module list before publishing."
- "Brand my Learnt workspace with our teal, #0F766E, and the logo in ./logo.png."
- "Add Ridgeline Realty as a client organization with access until June 30, 2027, and invite the people in ridgeline.csv."
- "Who at Ridgeline hasn't finished the course yet?"

The skill tells the agent to ask before sending invitations, removing learners or deleting modules. Invitations count against your daily limit, as they do in the Course Editor.
